Track Your Ads and Know Your ROI by Brian Rooney

Your online advertising needs to produce results. It's just that simple. Much like hiring an employee, if your online advertising isn't contributing to more sales, why bother?

Even if you are running so-called "free" ads, you've got a lot invested in your advertising efforts by way of time and energy.

Of course, when you are spending actual cash money on your online advertising, you expect to see a reasonable return.

In advertising terms, the results you experience are what is known as your Return On Investment or "ROI".

ROI is one of the critical factors for measuring the success of any given ad campaign.

To truly know your ROI, you need to know which ads are performing and which ads are not pulling their weight.

The best way I know of to do this is to use AdTrackers.

An AdTracker is a unique URL you use in place of your actual URL. The AdTracker counts the number of times someone clicks on it. This tells you very quickly how many people are responding to a particular ad, a follow-up message, etc...

Personally, I track all of my online ads, all of my AutoResponder letters, links within my web site copy, etc....

By tracking each of these, I know exactly how much a visitor to my site from any given ad resource is costing me.

My primary goal with any of my advertising is to generate targeted leads.

By tracking my advertising, I can accurately track the cost of each subscriber that gets added to my database.

If you're not tracking your ads, autoresponder letters, links, etc... you are literally flying blind when it comes to your advertising. Ads that aren't producing are not only costing you money and/or time but could be costing you business, as well.

If $100 in advertising on Ad Site "ABC" generates 4 new prospects and $100 in advertising on Ad Site "XYZ" generates 20 new prospects, where would you rather spend your advertising resources?

By tracking all of your online ads, you take the guess work out of advertising and maximize your ROI.
