10 Tried & Tested Ways to get a Website working for you by Michael Ogden

1. Choose a good name relevant to your business and make sure you keep it short. We live in UK so we started with .co.uk sites but it is useful to have the .com version as well.

2. Brand your name and business by having your own name and address on the landing page.

3. Have your telephone number on the website.

4. Always get a website done by a professional. Doing it yourself may save money but if the page takes minutes to load, you have lost a customer who will never go back.

5. Have a counter on your website and make sure it starts at 5,500. People hate to be first. It is like choosing a restaurant to eat at. People like eating at places which are well used.

6. Use Sky Blue as a background colour. It appeals to people. 7. Just one page and the application form at the bottom will capture more leads. Make it easy for people to contact you.

8. Extra pages will help you get into the search engines.

9. To get people to your site, you can use pay per click, put the website on national print advertising, or put it on your cards and flyers and your car. When we started using a website in 2000, we got 60 extra leads for FREE a month, without costing any more for the ad. This was a very low cost investment.

10. Always use a Autoresponder or Contact Manager to follow up on previous contacts. It has taken us 7 years to find the right one. Prospects have to view the opportunity at least 7 times before they buy.
